It's not the first time that people claimed to witness a religious statue or painting cry with tears or blood. In fact, it is a unexplained mystery with various cases around the world.
In time with the Lenten Season, a laminated image of Jesus and the Virgin Mary and the statue of St. Veronica were seen weeping blood on Thursday in Carcar City in Southern Cebu. Residents then gathered at the house and prayed.
Val Sandiego, the homeowner and a Catholic devotee, said he was on on his way to Dumanjug with his family when their maid called and told him that the statue was shedding tears of blood.
"We were more than halfway when our maid called, telling us nga naghilak og dugo (crying in blood)," he said.
Based on the religious tradition, St. Veronica was the woman who wiped the Jesus Christ's face while he was on his way to the Cross.
Val claimed that the statue is 130 years old and belongs to his great grandparents. While he is unsure if 'weeping in blood' is a sign of miracle, Val said he is prepared whatever God's message is.
The local parish priest has seen the photos but hasn't given any statements yet.
What can you say about this? If it really is weeping blood do you have any theories as to why? Tell us your thoughts below.
