Just this April 2017, multiple earthquakes occurred in the province of Batangas and other nearby areas. The first major quake happened on April 4 at around 9:00 PM. It had a magnitude 5.5 according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). Its epicenter was recorded in the town of Tingloy
The next one happened on April 08 with stronger quakes of magnitude 6.0 and happened during the afternoon. As per the reports, epicenter is around the town of Mabini and Tanauan.
Damages on buildings, resorts, churches, and houses has been reported. It also damaged several power plants supplying power in the Luzon area, that is why power supply in Luzon decreased. Many people had also been relocated temporarily.
As some people are still undergoing anxiety because of the earthquake, another video and more photos surfaced. A waterspout has been spotted in Mabini, Batangas. This was seen on Sunday around 11:45 AM as per Lito Castro of Batangas Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. The tornado vanished immediately according to Mabini Mayor Noel Luistro.
Castro said the tornado did not hit the land and no residents were hurt so there is nothing to worry about. However, because of the previous earthquake swarm, many locals were forced to evacuate because of possible tsunamis.
Despite the assurance that Castro made, the locals are still very much afraid. Do you think there is a meaning behind these sudden tornadoes seen in Batangas?
