The Miss Universe fever has not completely died down yet, and with the much-talked about Question and Answer portion of Maxine Medina, it continues to bring back memories of past fiascos of a response to the dreaded segment of the contest.
Take a look back to Miss Binibining Pilipinas 2001 candidate # 15, Jeannie Anderson.
Jeannie Anderson was doing well throughout the Binibining Pilipinas 2001 until the gut-wrenching Q&A portion came and it was her turn. As she walked down and proceeded to the center stage, the host of the segment then told her that she was very tall.
Gloria Diaz then carried on and asked her question, ”Ok Jeanie, I’m going to ask you a question that is not necessarily practical but if you were given a chance to choose to become beautiful but not too smart or very smart and not too beautiful. What would you prefer to be and why?”
With the look on her face, the audience becomes rowdy and everyone’s laughing, prompting Jeannie to tell them, “Quiet please,” much to the audience’s delight. It can also be seen that Senator Dick Gordon was also there.
She then proceeds to give on head-scratcher of an answer. What she was trying to say was that she would rather be beautiful because being smart is something you can learn to be.
Ms. Anderson was part of the top 10 finalists but did not win the crown, however, she was Miss Photogenic of the competition last 2001.
Netizens were all over this major throwback, many making fun of the disaster of answer uttered by Ms. Anderson. But many also came to her defense, saying that she does have to appoint, however, she was so nervous that it got the best of her.
