Regine Velasquez has no reservations regarding gay roles, and is even proud to be tagged as a "babaeng bakla".
However, how did the Asia's Song Bird react after her first born son Nate was heard speaking gay lingo on school?
On one instance, Nate spoke to her teacher about her mom. Suprisingly, the boy said "barlog" which means "tulog" in gay term.
"Isang time, kinukuwento ng teacher. Tinanong daw si Nate, ‘Where's your mom? Your mommy didn't bring you to school?’ Sabi raw niya, ‘Hay naku! My Mom is barlog'," Regine recalled.
"Borlog, pero barlog ang pagkakasabi niya. Sabi niya, ‘She's tired. She came from a show that's why she's barlog.'"
She was also asked how she switches from being a "babaeng bakla" to her real mom self once she's home.
"Siyempre hindi naman ako ganun," Regine answered laughing.
According to Regine, chances are Nate got the language from her dad Ogie Alcasid.
"Hindi ko alam! Actually, baka nga sa asawa ko pa nakuha yun. E, kasi siya ang mahilig mag-gay language at ang anak niya, tinuturuan niya ng gay lingo."
Nonetheless, the singer emphasized that she sees no problem with her son speaking in gay lingo.
"At saka, ganun naman na tayong magsalita. Yung asawa ko nga, ganun magsalita. Okay lang yun."
When asked during the press conference of 'Full House Tonight' about the chances of her son turning out gay, Regine reacted calmly contrary to how most traditional mothers would.
"Siyempre, pinagpi-pray ko na hindi," she admitted. "Kung mangyari yun, ano ang gagawin ko? Just accept it. There’s nothing wrong with it. I mean, hindi naman yun sakit."
For Regine, what matters most is the happiness of her son.
"As long as he'll be happy, he knows what is right and what is wrong, may respeto siya sa mga tao at sa amin, he knows Jesus Christ, we're good."
