Pinoys have been known to travel a lot and they are always on the lookout for promo fares and other discounts in order to explore out of town places.
True to the Pinoy's lust for traveling, Star Cruises is now making Manila the home port of the company's latest "Jewels of the South China Sea" cruise project.
According to ABS-CBN News, it is the first-ever homeport deployment of the ship Superstar Virgo in the Philippines.
Star Cruises president, Ang Moo Lim, stated that "It's the first time that Filipinos can cruise literally from your doorstep. Hassle-free, visa-free, and almost no limitation on baggage allowance."
In an interview, Lim revealed that Star Cruises is the first major cruise line which recruited Filipinos twenty-years ago to work in their cruise ship. He said that the company is pleased to be the first international cruise line to mark Manila their home port.
The first cruise is scheduled to depart on March 19 while the last trip is on May 23. Guests should have a storm-free voyage because the six-day-five-nights cruises are scheduled for the summer months. Departing from Manila, the ship will travel to the port of Curimao in Laoag as its first stop.
The next stop will already be in Kaohsiung, the biggest port of Taiwan. Lim stated that special concessions have already been given so that Filipinos won't have to apply for a Taiwanese visa once they travel there.
The cruise will then continue to Hong Kong, where the guests can have a chance to shop, dine, and enjoy some of the nightlife in the former British colony. Another day will be spent at the sea as Superstar Virgo heads back to Manila.
Superstar Virgo will feature 935 cabins that would range from affordable staterooms to luxurious executive suites, as it will be the flagship of the fleet.
Cruise amenities include the Parthenon Pool with a Mega Waterslide, 15 food and beverage outlets, a beauty salon, a library, a spa and health club, karaoke rooms, fitness centers, a basketball court, and even a jogging rack.
Live shows are also held at the Lido Theater inside the ship every night, where magic shows and ballroom dancing spectacles can be seen. In every trip, a one-of-a-kind dinner will be held at the Grand Piazza deck where guests can mingle with the ship's captain and its officers.
Star Cruise said that it will be offering an early bird rate to all of its cabins for the first month of the cruise. Twin sharing will be at $490 per person, while quad sharing rooms can be enjoyed with an additional 50% off at $245 per persons.
