Miss Universe candidate Maxine Medina faces controversy after netizens started bashing her due to her inability to speak fluent and grammatically correct English.
Many netizens even suggested replacing her with someone else while there is still time.
And although she has improved over time, netizens still believe that she is incapable of winning the Miss Universe crown.
Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chairman Liza Diño had her own opinion in regards the issue.
On her own Facebook account, Dino defended the candidate telling netizens to focus on her strength.
According to her, Medina doesn't need to be proficient in speaking English to have an edge over the competition.
"Bakit hindi kumuha ng translator para mas malaya niyang masasagot ang mga tanong?" she even suggested.
The country has high hopes for the aspiring beauty queen, pageant fans dream of getting the crown in a back-to-back win after Pia Wurtzbach won in the pageant in 2015.
