Lingan claimed that in as much as the Filipinos are digitizing, their businesses have not particularly caught up. He added that Google Philippines is currently employing 40 to 60 people in the new office and that the growth has been "exponential" since its launch in 2013.

They also believed that despite the prohibitionist policies of the newly inaugurated US president Donald Trump, their company's growth trajectory in the country would continue. "We don't really see it that we will be able to stop the opportunity for companies to scale up because of online," Lingan said.

Apart from the Philippines, Google also has its own headquarters across Southeast Asia, particularly in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. Initially, the local team of Google only had six members in 2013. Lingan stated that there are currently looking for people in their marketing and sales department.

Google Philippines' new office boasts of floor-to-ceiling windows fences in the spacious headquarters, where it frames Taguig's urban landscape similar to a huge, multi-part painting. Google Philippines communications head Gail Tan said that it's also a reminder of how big the task of digitizing the Philippines still is.

Meeting rooms are named after local icons such as 'Whang Od,' 'Vinta,' 'Salakot,' and 'Ifugao.' A breastfeeding room is also made for mothers, named 'Inay.' Their big room, meant for talks and press conferences, is called 'Salu-Salo.'
