President Rodrigo Duterte gave his early Christmas gift for the wounded soldiers in Zamboanga City, Saturday afternoon.
Soldiers received money and mobile phones and the President personally visited the wounded soldiers and their families at the Armed Forces of the Philippines' Western Mindanao Command Headquarters.
The President said in an interview that his gifts for the soldiers will somehow ease up their suffering.
"Just to ease up their pain and suffering... Kagaya ng trabaho ko is to visit them tapos magbigay ng konting pera at mga bagong cellphone nila," Duterte said.
"So bigyan ko sila, mas maganda pa sa inyo," the President added.
The President ordered that the operations against Abu Sayaf Group and Maute Group be heightened. However, his compassion for the soldiers was still felt as he emphasized that taking care of the soldiers is a must for the Government for they lay their lives to protect the country and its people.
"We should take care of our soldiers. They are giving up their lives for this Republic," Duterte said to the reporters.
