"May i-fire out akong ngayong dalawa. Pag-uwi ko ngayon, may sabihin akong talagang paalisin ko. Mga [mata]taas na opisyal. Malaman lang ninyo iyan," President Duterte boldly proclaimed.

On December 16th, 2016, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said that he would fire 'two ranking government officials' upon his return from his state visit to Singapore.

This was part of a speech he made to the Filipino community in Singapore where he vowed to stop corruption.

Duterte did not mention the names these officials or their positions in government agencies.

"Sinabi ko na sa inyo na lahat talagang hinigpitan ko. Konting...Even a whisper. Do not do it. Maski na bulong lang. Either magsugal pa ako na kung totoo o hindi o paalisin na lang kita. The better practice is if I am in doubt, you go. Huwag na mag-ano na baka hindi totoo iyan," the President added.

The President also urged OFWs to 'be assertive' or their rights. He advised them not allow government officials to exploit them.

"And that goes for everybody from the President down to the last barangays" Duterte said towards the end of his speech.
