It seems like the PNP will indeed have a merry Christmas as top officials will be getting P400,000 from the usual P50,000 each from President Rodrigo Duterte as the administration's war was considered a 'success'. The said bonus was announced by Director General Ronald 'Bato' Dela Rosa himself.
“That’s how much he (President) supports the PNP. Love na love niya ang PNP kaya lahat tayo happy,” Dela Rosa stated in a speech during the Christmas party of the PNP officials at Camp Crame.
“Kunin n’yo pamasko n’yo ranging from P400,000 at pinakamababa P100,000 sa mga star-rank officers. Pinakamababa sa mga hindi star-rank mga P50,000. Okay na sa inyo ‘yon?” Dela Rosa announced, getting a loud 'yes' from the audience. He noted that this is the first time the President would be giving such a big bonus to the PNP. Dela Rosa himself would receive P400,000.
“Hindi naman kaya ni Presidente bigyan lahat. While gusto nya bigyan lahat down to the last PO1 and NUP (non-uniformed personnel), wala na mangyayari. Hindi kakayanin ng pera kung saan niya hahanapin yung pera na ‘yan but that’s enough for us dahil first time nangyari dito sa PNP na meron talagang cash gift from Malacañang. So everybody enjoy,” he said.
In a separate press conference, Bato was asked where the bonus came from. He responded, "Huwag na kayo magtanong kung saan galing. Basta hindi ‘yan galing sa drugs (Don’t ask where it came from. Just know it didn’t come from drugs).”
However, this news received negative reactions from the officials who were directly involved in the operations but were not included in the big bonus.
