In response to the recent threats against Leni Robredo's vice presidency, President Rodrigo Duterte vowed that she will remain the Vice President until her term ends.
Robredo thanked Duterte for the assurance during the Meet Inquirer Multimedia Forum held on Thursday, December 8, 2016.
"Thank you. I would like to see it as a reassurance," Leni said with undeniable glee across her face.
The Vice President then followed it up with a statement said in jest, "Sana hindi lang sa Bicol sabihin, but all over the country.”
It was during the Bicol International Airport’s ground-breaking ceremony held in Robredo's bailiwick of Legazpi City when Duterte responded to the allegations that a plot was being conspired to unseat Robredo.
"I will assure Leni and the rest of the Bicol region that you will have her until the very end of her term. There is no such thing as removing of a vice president," assured Duterte.
Robredo then admitted that, despite their opposing views on various issues, she "would like to think" that she and the President were able to maintain a good working relationship.
According to Robredo, Duterte responds to her stories and the lessons she has acquired from her field visits during the past Cabinet meetings, when she was still allowed to attend.
Unfortunately, she recently received a text message telling her "to desist from attending Cabinet meetings," apparently ordered by the President.
"Kaya nasayangan ako. I didn’t see it coming. I thought despite our political differences, we will be able to transcend them." Robredo lamented.
