To alleviate poverty in the country, President Rodrigo Duterte proposed a family planning bill that would limit the number of children from two to three only per family. He said the proposal in a Christmas boodle fight last night with the Presidential Security Group.

In a report by Abante, he said he does not really want to fight the Church about family planning but he wants to have a proper family planning scheme in the country by telling all couples to limit the number of their children.

“Dalawa, tatlo tama na ‘yan. ‘Di n’yo talaga kaya. Maawa ako sa Pilipino …sobra-sobrang…hindi mo mapapaaral ,” Duterte said.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, there are 103 million people living now in the Philippines with an annual growth rate of 1.54 percent.

National Economic and Development Authority Director General Ernesto M. Pernia said last October that Duterte should establish economic growth, create lots of jobs, and properly implement the RH Law in order to achieve the 17% poverty growth incidence.
