Robin Padilla must have surely done something good to have received blessing after blessing in just a few days. Aside from the birth of his child with wife and actress Mariel Rodriguez, Padilla was stunned after another blessing came in the form of an absolute pardon from the Philippine President himself, Rodrigo Duterte.

The absolute pardon bestowed upon him has the power to restore his civil and political rights as a Filipino citizen.

It was more or less 22-years ago when the 46-year-old actor was convicted for illegal possession of firearms.

Although he admitted that the executive clemency wasn't expected when he was told to meet with the President at Malacañang with his sister, Padilla still couldn't contain the joy he felt.

He added.

The actor recalled how he initially thought that President Duterte called to offer him a position he would likely reject.

Padilla admitted during a pocket press con on November 16 that he felt emotional upon realizing what the document meant.

The absolute pardon granted to Padilla allows him to once again vote, bear arms and apply for a visa for travel out of the country.

He added.

Despite the pardon allowing the actor to run for public office, he stands firm in his earlier statements that he is not interested in holding a government position.

He said.
