While pigs are very common here in our country, this particular pig had been gaining popularity being the only pig in the whole Afghanistan! He was named Khanzir, which means "pig" in their language and can be found in the Kabul Zoo. The zoo director, Azoz Gul Saqib, admitted that many of his fellow countrymen haven't seen pigs in their whole life as pigs are considered "Haram" in Islamic belief.
He weighs 230 kilos and is now ripe in age. Zoo keeper Ani Barat shares "Yes, he is Haram but that is not bad. This is a zooso it's normal to have this animal here. Khanzir is innocent like all animals. He may be dirty, but we are responsible for him."
He also shared that Khanzir had a mate and piglets before but when they accidentally left open the cage of the zoo's bear, it attacked the piglets.
Meanwhile, they are now looking for a partner for Khanzir.
