A photo showing how the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos topped the highest score in the bar exam with 98.01 percent keeps appearing on Facebook pages.
It claims that Marcos was a topnotcher in 1939 on the front page of The Philippine Collegian.
Did You Know, a Facebook page, shared this photo and gained thousands of likes and shares. The page also boasted how “sharp” Marcos’ memory was, being able to deliver the 25-page speech written by his then speechwriter the late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago hours before.
However, after some fact-checking and deliberate investigations regarding this post, the truth was revealed exposing the actual topnotcher back in that time.
Due to cheating allegations, Marcos' score went through a recalibration from the Supreme Court, who revised the former 98.8 percent to 92.35 percent.
Yes, it was the late former Supreme Court associate justice Florenz Regalado who was officially recorded to have the highest bar exam average of 96.70 percent in 1954. Sadly, Regalado passed away in 2015.
