Amazing news awaits public school teachers this coming Christmas as they are set to receive double of the amount of bonus they received last year.
According to an article by Jocelyn Uy of The Philippine Daily Inquirer last November 8, the 720,000 teachers working under the government will be receiving as much as P34,000 to P64,000 cash as their year-end bonus.
TDC emphasized the "significant increase" in the salaries of public school teachers.
Furthermore, they will also receive P5,000 as a performance-based bonus (PBB) and another P5,000 as a productivity enhancement incentive (PEI) and a P5,000 cash gift.
According to the current standardization law, teachers may receive a PBB starting from P5,000 to a hefty P35,000, although the school's performance where he or she works will be considered.
However, TDC Chairperson Bejo Basas said receiving beyond the P5,000 minimum PBB is unlikely for regular teachers. Teachers and employees of the Department of Education who are qualified for the high bonus of P35,000 are those who have been recognized by award-winning bodies.
"The PBB, year-end bonus and cash gift will all be released this month while the PEI will be given in December," said Basas.
